🌟 Mentha revolution — the mint-oil millionaires of western UP

From the 1990s, small farmers in Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Badaun & Sitapur, backed by CIMAP Lucknow and the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, took up mentha arvensis as a spring-summer catch crop after wheat. India now supplies ~80% of the world's mint oil, and western UP is its heart.
