PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi — Apply, Track & Resolve
₹6,000/year to farmer families — eligibility, e-KYC, tracking & avoiding frauds.
PM-KISAN — ₹6,000 a year, straight to your bank
PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi is a genuine, 100% Government-of-India-funded scheme that pays every eligible landholding farmer family ₹6,000 a year — in three ₹2,000 installments — directly into an Aadhaar-seeded bank account. This course shows you how to apply, track your money, and fix the four things that stop it arriving. It also warns you loudly: PM-KISAN is one of India's most-impersonated schemes for phishing and APK scams.
₹6,000 / year
Paid as ₹2,000 three times a year: Apr–Jul, Aug–Nov, Dec–Mar.
Per family
Husband + wife + minor children = one ₹6,000 unit — not per person.
DBT only
Only into an Aadhaar-seeded bank savings account. UPI, wallets and apps are not accepted.
All landholders
Since 1 June 2019, any landholding farmer qualifies — the old 2-hectare cap is gone.
Four boxes must all be green for money to arrive
(1) eKYC done · (2) Aadhaar seeded + DBT-enabled via the NPCI mapper (not just "Aadhaar linked") · (3) land seeded by your Patwari · (4) your name matches Aadhaar exactly (payments run through the Aadhaar-Based Payment System). Miss any one and the installment silently fails. For scale: the 23rd installment (20 Jun 2026) sent ₹18,880 crore to 9.44 crore farmers.
New in 2026 — the Farmer ID
In ~14 states (AP, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, MP, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, UP), a unique Farmer ID under AgriStack / Digital Agriculture Mission is now required to keep receiving benefits. Apply at a CSC or your block agriculture office.
Who is eligible
The rule is simple: if your family owns cultivable land recorded in your name, you almost certainly qualify — with no land-size limit.
Landholding family
Any farmer family (husband + wife + minor children) with cultivable land in their name per state land records.
No size cap
Marginal, small or large — land size no longer matters since June 2019.
Group D / MTS
Class IV / Group D / Multi-Tasking Staff stay eligible even though they are government-employed.
Basics in place
Land in revenue records + Aadhaar + an Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
The practical test
Ask yourself three things: Is the land recorded in my name? Do I have Aadhaar? Is my bank account Aadhaar-seeded for DBT? If all three are yes and no one in your family is in an exclusion category (next chapter), you are eligible.
Who is excluded
This is an anti-affluence filter. If any one member of the family falls into a category below, the whole family is excluded.
| Excluded category | Note |
|---|---|
| Institutional landholders | Land held by an institution, not a person. |
| Constitutional post holders | Present/past MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Ministers, Mayors, Zila Panchayat Chairpersons. |
| Govt employees (serving/retired) | Central/State depts, PSUs, autonomous & local bodies. Class IV / Group D / MTS exempted. |
| Pensioners ₹10,000+/month | Excluding Class IV / Group D / MTS. |
| Income-tax payers | Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year. |
| Practising professionals | Doctors, engineers, lawyers, CAs, architects registered with a professional body. |
Don't "test" your eligibility
Wrongly registering when you are excluded (say, an income-tax payer) leads to recovery of every installment paid plus cancellation once you are verified. It is not worth it — register only if you genuinely qualify.
Documents & e-KYC
Gather these before you start, then complete e-KYC — the step that trips up the most farmers.
Aadhaar
Name spelling matters — it must match everywhere.
Land records
Khasra / khatauni number from revenue records.
Bank passbook
Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled — account number + IFSC.
Mobile + photo
Mobile linked to Aadhaar (for OTP) + a passport-size photo + self-declaration.
e-KYC — three official methods
| Method | Where | Best for | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| OTP-based | pmkisan.gov.in "e-KYC" + PM-KISAN app | Mobile linked to Aadhaar | Free |
| Biometric | CSC / Seva Kendra | Mobile NOT linked to Aadhaar | Small CSC fee |
| Face Auth | PM-KISAN app + Aadhaar Face RD app | Anyone; avoids OTP problems | Free |
Use Face Authentication if OTP fails
OTPs are valid ~10 minutes and often never arrive when your mobile isn't Aadhaar-linked. The government now pushes Face Auth as the primary 2026 method — it needs no OTP and is free. Status reflects about 24 hours after you finish.
How to register
Self-register free on pmkisan.gov.in, or get help at a CSC / your Patwari. The steps below follow the official portal.
Open Farmers Corner → New Farmer Registration
Go to pmkisan.gov.in, then Farmers Corner → New Farmer Registration. Choose Rural or Urban farmer.
Verify with Aadhaar + OTP
Enter Aadhaar + mobile + state + captcha → Get OTP → submit the OTP.
Enter location & personal details
State, District, Sub-district, Block, Village; then name, gender, category, DOB, ration card, single/joint ownership.
Bank + land details
Bank account number + IFSC, and land details (Khasra / Khatauni). Upload supporting documents.
Submit & save your number
Submit — it goes to your State Nodal Officer for verification. Screenshot / save your Registration Number — you need it for status, e-KYC and corrections.
Assisted routes
No smartphone or unsure? Visit your nearest CSC / Jan Seva Kendra, or your Patwari / Block Agriculture Office. CSCs charge a small nominal fee — but the scheme itself is 100% free.
Track your installment
The "Know Your Status" page is your dashboard — it shows exactly which of the four boxes is failing.
Know Your Status
pmkisan.gov.in → Farmers Corner → Know Your Status → enter Registration Number + captcha → OTP → Get Data.
Forgot your Registration Number?
Click Know Your Registration Number → enter Aadhaar/mobile → OTP.
Read the four indicators
The page shows installment history, e-KYC status, land seeding status, and FTO Processed (Yes/No).
Check the village Beneficiary List
Farmers Corner → Beneficiary List → State → District → Sub-district → Block → Village → Get Report. Also available on the PM-KISAN mobile app.
Beat the rush
The portal is slow near each installment release. Try 7–9 AM or 9–11 PM, and do your e-KYC early rather than on payment day.
Fix common problems
Most "money not received" cases are one of the errors below. Match your status to the row and follow the fix.
| Status / error | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| e-KYC pending / "Inactive" | e-KYC not done | Do OTP/Face e-KYC on the portal/app, or biometric at a CSC. |
| OTP not arriving | Mobile not linked to Aadhaar | Use Face Auth or CSC biometric; else link mobile at an Aadhaar centre. |
| Aadhaar name mismatch | Name in PM-KISAN ≠ Aadhaar (spelling, initials, order) | Portal → Edit Aadhaar Failure Record → correct to match Aadhaar → re-submit. |
| Land seeding = No | Khasra not uploaded/verified | Visit Tehsil/Block, meet the Patwari to update & seed land records. |
| Error B08 (NPCI not linked) | Bank hasn't pushed your Aadhaar mandate to the NPCI mapper | Go to your home branch, ask them to seed Aadhaar + push to NPCI mapper. Only the branch can fix this. |
| Error 207 | Demographic mismatch (name/DOB/gender) between Aadhaar and bank KYC | Update bank KYC to exactly match Aadhaar, then re-map. |
| Stopped / verified ineligible | Exclusion category flagged | Contact State Nodal / Block office; if genuinely eligible, appeal with proof. |
"Aadhaar linked" ≠ "DBT / NPCI seeded"
This one distinction defeats a huge share of farmers. Your Aadhaar can be linked to your bank yet still not be DBT-seeded in the NPCI mapper. At the branch, ask specifically for "Aadhaar seeding for DBT / NPCI mapping." NPCI cannot fix it — only your home branch can.
Grievance route
Helpline 155261 or 1800-115-526 (toll-free), 011-24300606 (Delhi). Online: pmkisan.gov.in → Help Desk / Grievance → log with Aadhaar/account/mobile → keep the grievance ID. Email pmkisan-funds@gov.in (payments) or pmkisan-ict@gov.in (e-KYC/name/tech). Kisan-eMitra chatbot runs 24×7 in 11 languages. For general farming advice (not payments), the Kisan Call Centre is 1800-180-1551, 6 AM–10 PM.
Beware of frauds
The Ministry of Agriculture has issued official public advisories about PM-KISAN scams. The scheme is real — but the messages you receive about it usually are not.
The scam patterns to recognise
- Phishing SMS/WhatsApp: "Your ₹2,000 is ready — verify Aadhaar / re-register — click this link." The lookalike site steals Aadhaar, PAN and OTP, then drains your account.
- Fake "PM Kisan" APK apps shared on WhatsApp hijack your phone. The only legit app is on the Google Play Store; the only legit site is https://pmkisan.gov.in.
- Fee-charging "agents"/websites promising to "release your installment." The scheme is 100% free — no one can charge to release your money.
- There is NO official WhatsApp or Telegram helpline. Any such "support centre" is a scam.
If you're defrauded
Call the cyber helpline 1930 or file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in immediately — the faster you report, the better the chance of a freeze/refund.
Do's & Don'ts of PM-KISAN
DO
- Use only https://pmkisan.gov.in and the Play Store PM-KISAN app.
- Complete e-KYC promptly — Face Auth if OTP fails.
- Make sure your name in PM-KISAN exactly matches Aadhaar.
- Get your bank to do Aadhaar + NPCI/DBT seeding — confirm it's active.
- Get land records seeded via your Patwari.
- Save your Registration Number (screenshot).
- Check status each cycle; look for FTO Processed = Yes.
- Keep your mobile linked to Aadhaar.
- In the 14 Farmer-ID states, get your Farmer ID.
- File grievances via portal Help Desk or 155261; keep the grievance ID.
- Verify news only via @pmkisanofficial and pib.gov.in.
- Report scams to 1930 / cybercrime.gov.in.
DON'T
- Never pay any agent or website a "fee" to get PM-KISAN money.
- Never share Aadhaar/OTP/bank details from an SMS or WhatsApp link.
- Never click "installment ready / re-register" links from messages.
- Never install a "PM Kisan" APK sent on WhatsApp.
- Don't expect payment into UPI/wallet — only an Aadhaar-seeded bank account works.
- Don't assume "Aadhaar linked to bank" = DBT seeded — confirm NPCI mapping.
- Don't register if you're in an exclusion category.
- Don't ignore a land-seeding "No" — no payment without it.
- Don't register twice or with mismatched names — it causes rejection.
- Don't trust "unofficial helpline / support centre" numbers — none exist.
- Don't wait until installment day — the portal is jammed; do e-KYC early.
- Don't rely on unofficial "status check" websites for corrections — use the official portal.
